He was an accomplished yachtsman and paddler growing up in South Africa, the Cape of Storms. When he moved from South Africa to Bellingham, he immediately immersed himself in paddling crafts of all types and has been a volunteer coach and mentor to the Bellingham Youth Sprint Kayak Team for a number of years. Simon says that the joy in working with young men and women is incredibly satisfying in a sport that is complex and demanding. If he didn’t love the law, it’s what he’d be doing...it gives him a sense of community, joy and laughter.
